Intoduction

Every so often a situation arises where it is necessary to use some or all of the money paid against an old order to help pay for a new order. Examples of where is might happen include

• A member mistakenly books for a partner or a guest.
• A member wants to use a credit from one year to pay for a walk in the following year.
• A member wants to use a credit to partially pay for a walk after a price rise. (The change date mechanism only works if the fee for both dates is the same)
• A member wants their credit to be used by their partner if they aren’t walking for the foreseeable future.

The basic mechanism for achieving this consists of two steps

1. Moving the order item on the original order to a virtual walk Transfer Booking. This removes it from blocking a seat on the walk or being a credit but still holds on to the money.
2. And creating a new booking against the relevant member or guest and adjusting the order price down by the amount being transferred in the first step.
